Kendall Norman rode the 12x JCR Honda to victory at the 2009 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, but team owner Johnny Campbell (right of Norman) wasn't able to race this year after he had a rough crash a few weeks ago that really banged him up (as evident by his wrapped hand).
JCR Honda team owner Johnny Campbell and rider Tim Weigand talk about the team effort that brought home Honda's 13th straight Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 win over a revitalized Kawasaki effort.
Steve Hengeveld crossed the finish line first aboard his Monster Energy/Blue C Communications/Wahoo's Fish Tacos Kawasaki KX450F, but Johnny Campbell Racing Honda's Kendall Norman was right behind him, finishing one minute, 57 seconds ahead of Hengeveld on adjusted time to give the JCR Honda the unofficial motorcycle win and Honda its 13th straight Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 win. Check out the finish and interviews with Norman and Kawasaki team rider of record Robby Bell.

With the motorcycles leaving the starting line at 6:30 a.m. this morning, we've officially passed the 12-hour mark. The good news is that BFGoodrich set up a great media center (right) for us journalists at the 1000 this year. Typically covering the 1000 means you're roughing it, but that's not the case this year. Everyone in the room has slowed down a little bit, and we're definitely starting to get a little groggy. But it's easy to stay awake when you consider your day doesn't involve grasping handlebars or a steering wheel and navigating through the Baja desert.
The bikes passed the 600-mile mark a little bit ago, so we're thinking they should near the finish line in the next one to two hours or so. We'll have radio silence for just a little bit as we run out there to catch the action of the first motorcycles crossing the finish line. The Trophy Trucks will probably be coming in closer to 1 or 2 a.m. Look at that: Red Bull reinforcements just arrived ... you know, maybe I'm not so tired after all.
It looks a little like a dungeon, but this is our homebase for the Baja 1000. BFGoodrich put together a media center for journalists at the Baja 1000 this year.
