    When the frontrunners went through BFGoodrich's fifth pit, Andy McMillin (10 hours 45 minutes) had nearly a 20-minute lead over second-place Robby Gordon (11 hours, 5 minutes). Gordon then had close to a 10-minute lead over third-place Roger Norman and Larry Roeseler (11 hours, 20 minutes). McMillin is now nearing race mile 585 and he still holds a commanding lead. It's going to take a giant mistake or a crucial broken part for him to relinquish this lead.

    The Johnny Campbell Racing team of Kendall Norman, Timmy Weigand and Quinn Cody took the overall motorcycle win at the 2009 SCORE Baja 1000. It was the 1x bike of Robby Bell, Steve Hengeveld (who rode across the finish line), Ryan Penhall and Connor Penhall that actually crossed the finish line in first, but Norman and the JCR team were ahead on corrected time by 1 minute and 57 seconds, according to SCORE officials. This is unofficialy until the tracking data is reviewed, but it looks like Honda earned

    Andy McMillin is starting to gap the field a bit. He's between race mile 420 and 425, and he's about five miles ahead of second-place Nick Vanderwey. Rick D. Johnson has lost his hold on second, but he's still in third a few miles behind Vanderwey. Just off the top three is Robby Gordon in fourth place. The bikes are getting close. They are about 40 miles out or so. We don't have any tracking data on them, unfortunately (ditto for the ATVs, since they don't have to use trackers).

• Baja 1000: Hour 12 Approaches

    With the motorcycles leaving the starting line at 6:30 a.m. this morning, we've officially passed the 12-hour mark. The good news is that BFGoodrich set up a great media center (right) for us journalists at the 1000 this year. Typically covering the 1000 means you're roughing it, but that's not the case this year. Everyone in the room has slowed down a little bit, and we're definitely starting to get a little groggy. But it's easy to stay awake when you consider your day doesn't involve grasping handlebars or a steering wheel and navigating through the Baja desert. 

    The bikes passed the 600-mile mark a little bit ago, so we're thinking they should near the finish line in the next one to two hours or so. We'll have radio silence for just a little bit as we run out there to catch the action of the first motorcycles crossing the finish line. The Trophy Trucks will probably be coming in closer to 1 or 2 a.m. Look at that: Red Bull reinforcements just arrived ... you know, maybe I'm not so tired after all.

Johnson is in second about three to four miles back, and not far from Johnson is Nick Vanderwey in third. Robby Gordon is a little ways back in fourth place, but he looks to be about eight to 10 miles off the leader at this point.
